Job Description
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS, PRINT, WEB, DIGITAL, Admissions Office, to work closely with the associate director and director as a core member of the communications team. Will be responsible for design and web functions in support of MIT Student Financial Services (SFS) and Undergraduate Admissions; serve as the in-house designer for the communications team and create and update internal and outbound communications; help bring the Admissions Office and SFS brands to life through collateral, websites, signage, presentations, digital assets, and other materials; serve as webmaster for multiple web properties and as project manager for a variety of print and digital projects, with additional projects as assigned.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in graphic or communication design; at least three years of experience with print, digital, and website design; demonstrated portfolio of design, both print and digital; interest in exploring all things design; flexibility and receptivity to running with new ideas; solid knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, HTML, CSS, and MS Office; excellent organizational skills; ability to multitask and meet deadlines while paying close attention to detail; ability to present to and converse and collaborate equally well with colleagues and Institute partners and external designers, printers, developers, and other vendors; and an interest in learning about undergraduate admissions and financial aid. PREFERRED: experience in higher education or an agency environment; experience writing compelling content for a variety of media; and experience with digital media production for web, Drupal, Webflow, and Slate. Salary range: $64,000 - $78,000
Will be eligible to work a hybrid schedule with a minimum of two days per week in the Admissions Office in Cambridge, MA. Some night and weekend work required.
